Another representative of Kusatsu is Mt. Shirane. The graceful moutain, listed in "List of the 100 famous mountains in Japan" of Hukada Kyuya, has a lot of attractive hiking trails around the area.
Enjoy the lovely flowers, let the fresh air circulate in your body and soak in onsen after a confortable walk.
This is the Kusatsu's way of enjoying hiking!

Ο A and B course: Shirane Kazan bus stop(Shirane Rest House): 30 min from Kusatsu Onsen Bus Terminal Station
Ο C, D, E, F and G course: Shirane-kazan (volcano) Ropeway Sesshogawara-Sanroku bus stop: 20min. from Kusatsu Onsen Bus Terminal Station. Transfer to Shirane-kazan (volcano) Ropeway to get to Sancho Station,
By Car

Nature of Kusatsu - Golf Couses
Shirane volcano Ropeway is extremely useful for hiking in Shirane area.It connects Sesshogawara and Ainomine (2.4km) for only 8 minutes. For a hike starting from Sancho station, it is absolutely the best way to get a kick start.
